What are some good top shelf liquors and wines?
Question by Louis: What are some good top shelf liquors and wines?
I built a home bar in my house and am looking to build it up with mostly premium beverages. Any suggestions? I already have Jameson, Bong Vodka, Patron, Cabo Wabo, Solichnaya elit, Jack Daniels, and Grey Goose. Forgive me if you don’t think these are premium. I don’t know anything about wine so help me out.

Wine is subjective. What’s good to one person is foul to another. Plus, once you open a bottle its going to go bad before long. If you’re going to be serving wine by the glass just stock up on a variety of mass produced cheap stuff (750 ml bottles or 1.5 L magnums, no jugs or boxes). Nobody is going to be offended.

you should get a bourbon or two, like woodford reserve and 1792; walker black for a blended scotch; glenlivet for a single malt scotch; hendrick’s for gin… grey goose and stoli are standard but crystal head vodka looks a lot cooler on a shelf behind the bar. patron and cabo wabo are good but my favorite tequila to drink straight is corralejo anejo, you should check it out

a lot of things are best on taste. I would save for high end vodka you could go with ciroc also it is not as expensive but still really good. AS far as tequila goes a cabo wabo is good but you could also get 1800. You do need some rum which most people carry captain Morgan. If you want a decent one that has a really good spice to to the rum Kilo Kaiis really good. A non spiced rum go with Bacardi. I do agree with one of your other response as far as good bourbon with 1792. Hendricks gin is a good buy also for top gin. Or beefeater but i prefer Hendricks. Do you have any liqueurs… like grand mariner or Kahlua?? Schnapps? Dekupper normally is a good one to have. These are just ideas to have a full bar.
As far as wine goes it doesn’t depend on tast but i would try to carry someting from each varietal. Merlot, Riesling, Cabernet Sauv, Sauv blanc… etc
Don’t be afraid to go to a liquor store and ask the reps that what they get paid to do
